Pastured Farm Fresh Eggs
Pastured Farm Fresh Eggs
Our pastured, Non-GMO eggs are hand collected, unwashed (with the ‘bloom’ still intact), and sold by the dozen - in our market, The Meat Shack.
Unwashed eggs can be left out on your kitchen counter at room temperature and should last for up to two weeks because of the ‘bloom’, which is an outer protective layer that protects the egg from bacteria getting inside the egg. Did you know that egg shells are porous?! The ‘bloom’ works as a natural sealant! After two weeks, we recommend refrigerating them, although the ‘float test’ is always an option if you choose to keep them unrefrigerated longer. Cooler temps. increase the shelf life, keeping the eggs fresh for up to three months when refrigerated.
We supplement our hens with a Non-GMO, organic feed. Our eggs are ungraded and unsized.
Our hens are pasture raised and free to roam and forage, scratching the ground and eating bugs, grass, weeds and seeds. We rotate our chickens to different pastures - a benefit to both our hens and the soil. Happy, healthy hens that lay nutrient-dense eggs with deep, bright orange-yellow yolks!
Our pastured eggs can be found at our farmers market, The Meat Shack - or - you can contact us via phone/text at 757-477-6293 for questions, requests, or to place an order for pickup!
